چکیده

We find the exact analytical solution to a Goursat PDE system governing the kernels of a backsteppingbased boundary control law that stabilizes a constant-coefficient 2 × 2 system of first-order hyperbolic linear PDEs. The solution to the Goursat system is related to the solution of a simpler, explicitly solvable Goursat system through a suitable infinite series of powers of partial derivatives which is summed explicitly in terms of special functions, including Bessel functions and the generalized Marcum Q -functions of the first order. TheMarcum functions are common in certain applications in communications but have not appeared previously in control design problems. The dependence of the explicit solutions with respect to system parameters is analyzed through several examples, including the stabilization of a constant equilibrium for a quasi-linear plant. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. Universal scaling limits of matrix models , and ( p , q ) Liouville gravity

We show that near a point where the equilibrium density of eigenvalues of a matrix model behaves like y ∼ x p/q , the correlation functions of a random matrix, are, to leading order in the appropriate scaling, given by determinants of the universal (p, q)-minimal models kernels. Those (p, q) kernels are written in terms of functions solutions of a linear equation of order q, with polynomial coe...

Finite time stabilization of time-delay nonlinear systems with uncertainty and time-varying delay

In this paper, the problem of finite-time stability and finite-time stabilization for a specific class of dynamical systems with nonlinear functions in the presence time-varying delay and norm-bounded uncertainty terms is investigated. Nonlinear functions are considered to satisfy the Lipchitz conditions. At first, sufficient conditions to guarantee the finite-time stability for time-delay nonl...

On boundary feedback stabilization of non-uniform linear 2×2 hyperbolic systems over a bounded interval

Conditions for boundary feedback stabilizability of non-uniform linear 2 × 2 hyperbolic systems over a bounded interval are investigated. Themain result is to show that the existence of a basic quadratic control Lyapunov function requires that the solution of an associated ODE is defined on the considered interval. This result is used to give explicit conditions for the existence of stabilizing...

Mahler ’ S Measure and the Dilogarithm

We continue to investigate the relation between the Mahler measure of certain two variable polynomials, the values of the Bloch–Wigner dilogarithm D(z) and the values ζF (2) of zeta functions of number fields. Specifically, we define a class A of polynomials A with the property that πm(A) is a linear combination of values D at algebraic arguments. For many polynomials in this class the correspo...
